La Trobe Business School Students Visit MinCharm’s Dongguan Factory

Aug 20,2026

On December 1, 2025, a group of students from La Trobe Business School in Australia visited MinCharm's apparel manufacturing facility in Dongguan, Guangdong. The visit gave the students an opportunity to see a working garment factory firsthand, learn more about apparel production and product development, and exchange ideas with members of the MinCharm team.

Rather than learning about manufacturing only through presentations or textbooks, the students were able to walk through different areas of the factory and observe how apparel products move through a real production environment.

Exploring Apparel Manufacturing Inside the Factory

During the factory tour, the MinCharm team introduced the students to several parts of the apparel manufacturing process and explained how different departments work together when developing and producing garments.

The students visited working production areas and observed garments, fabrics and production materials being handled inside the factory. This provided a practical view of the coordination required between product development, production preparation and manufacturing.

From Product Ideas to Garment Development

Another part of the visit focused on how a garment moves from an initial product idea toward something that can actually be manufactured.

At the development area, students had the opportunity to look more closely at garment patterns, fabrics and product components while discussing how manufacturers interpret product requirements before production begins.

For apparel brands and manufacturers, this early stage is important because details such as construction, measurements, fabric selection and production feasibility need to be reviewed before an order moves into bulk manufacturing.

Learning Through Conversation and Interaction

The visit was not limited to simply walking through the facility. Students also spoke with members of the MinCharm team about garment manufacturing, product development and the day-to-day realities of operating within the apparel supply chain.

These conversations helped connect business concepts with practical manufacturing examples. For students studying business, seeing how product decisions, production requirements, people and processes come together in a real factory environment offered a different perspective from classroom-based learning.

Factory visits can provide a practical way to understand that apparel manufacturing is not a single production step. It involves coordination between product development, materials, production planning, manufacturing and quality control before finished garments are ready for delivery.

A Closer Look at Products and Manufacturing Capabilities

The group also spent time in MinCharm's product and sample display area, where they were able to see different garment styles and discuss how product concepts are translated into physical samples and production-ready products.

For the MinCharm team, the visit was also an opportunity to share practical knowledge about apparel manufacturing with students who may work in international business, sourcing, product management or related industries in the future.

Connecting Education With Real-World Manufacturing

The December visit created an opportunity for direct exchange between students and people working in apparel manufacturing. By seeing production environments, garment development activities and finished products in person, the students were able to gain a more practical understanding of how apparel businesses operate beyond the consumer-facing side of the industry.

MinCharm was pleased to welcome the students from La Trobe Business School and to share part of our manufacturing experience with the group.

We appreciate everyone who participated in the visit and the conversations throughout the day, and we look forward to more opportunities for industry exchange and learning in the future.
