Relaxed Double-Layer Hood Pullover — the hoodie that holds its shape
A hoodie lives or dies by its hood
Most relaxed hoodies let the hood flop after a few washes — the lining curls, the opening goes limp, and the whole thing looks tired by week six. This one is built from two layers of self-fabric with a topstitched opening that stands up and recovers. It sounds minor. It is the first thing someone notices when they pick the garment up, and the last thing they complain about after owning it.
Why the drop shoulder actually works
The shoulder seam sits 4–5 cm below the natural shoulder. That buys a boxy, relaxed line without the sleeve riding up under the arm. A real grading note: when we scale a dropped-shoulder block up to 3XL, the sleeve cap needs about +1.5 cm of length or the seam climbs toward the neck. We bake that allowance into every size run, so your 3XL fits like a 3XL — not a tight L with extra fabric.
The kangaroo pocket that doesn't bag out
One-piece front pocket, bar-tacked at both stress points at 8–10 stitches per cm. A plain pocket sags the moment someone drops a phone in it; the bar tacks hold the load and the bound opening keeps its shape. In sampling we hang a 200 g weight on the pocket mouth — if it stretches more than a couple of mm, the stitch count goes up before we ship you a sample.

Hood + kangaroo pocket

6–7 cm 2x2 rib trim
Wide rib that springs back
Cuffs and hem use a 6–7 cm 2×2 rib. Narrow 3–4 cm rib relaxes after a season and the hem starts to flare; this wider band holds. The check we run is simple: stretch the rib to 1.5× its width and let go — it should spring back within a few millimeters. Most narrow rib fails that in our hands, which is exactly why we don't use it here.
Relaxed, not a tent
About 8–10 cm of ease through the body, with a slight side taper. That is the line between "intentional oversized" and "borrowed my brother's hoodie." We balance the drop shoulder against the hem width so it hangs clean on a hanger and on a body — no twisting, no riding up at the back.
Fabric: pick the weight, not the label
Two honest options, both piece-dye ready:
French terry
280–340 gsm. Lighter, breathable, loop-back interior. The mid-season and warmer-climate choice.
Brushed fleece
320–400 gsm. Cozier, warmer, heavier drape for winter runs.
A 320 gsm fleece body weighs roughly 60 g more per piece than a 280 gsm terry. On a 5,000-piece container that is real freight weight — worth deciding before you lock the fabric, not after.
What you can put on it
This is a blank canvas, not a finished SKU. For wholesale and private-label runs:
- Logo — chest, hood or cuff embroidery, or screen print, placed from your tech pack.
- Color — body, hood lining and rib can match or contrast; drawcord color set to your palette.
- Size — unisex graded XS–XXL; we take the side seam in if your market runs slim.
- Trim — drawcord with metal or plastic aglets, knotted or heat-sealed ends.
- Pack — polybag, hangtag and carton to your retail spec.
How a run actually goes
Most buyers start this style as a 1,000-piece test in two or three colors, then reorder the winner. Sampling takes 7–10 days; once you approve, bulk ships in 25–35 days. FOB runs US$1.8–3.7 per piece depending on fabric weight and trim — we quote against your tech pack, not a guess. Metal aglets add about 3 days; everything else sits inside the base window.
One honest fit note
These run true to a relaxed spec. If your customers expect a slimmer dropped-shoulder (common in parts of Europe), tell us before sampling — we take the side seam in, never the shoulder, so the dropped look stays.
