From November 14 to 16, 2023, our team attended Global Sourcing Expo Australia at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. During the three-day event, we presented apparel and sportswear samples and met buyers and industry visitors face to face.

The exhibition gave us an opportunity not only to show physical products, but also to discuss fabrics, product development, customization and manufacturing requirements directly with people involved in apparel sourcing.

Meeting Buyers at Global Sourcing Expo Australia

For apparel sourcing, there are details that are much easier to understand when a buyer can see and handle a garment in person. At the exhibition, visitors were able to look closely at the apparel samples displayed at our booth and discuss their sourcing requirements directly with our team.

Conversations ranged from product ideas and fabric choices to customization, sampling and manufacturing. These discussions also gave our team a closer look at the questions and requirements that buyers in the Australian market consider when evaluating apparel suppliers.

Trade shows give buyers an opportunity to move beyond product photos. Fabric hand feel, stretch, construction, fit and finishing can all be reviewed more directly when physical samples are available.

Apparel and Sportswear Samples on Display

Our booth featured a selection of apparel and sportswear samples, giving visitors the opportunity to examine different product constructions, fabrics, colors and design details at close range.

For brands and sourcing teams, evaluating a physical sample can make early product discussions more specific. Instead of discussing only a general style, both sides can talk about actual fabric characteristics, garment construction, fit expectations and the changes that may be required for a new project.

What Buyers Discussed With Our Team

Apparel sourcing rarely depends on the appearance of a garment alone. Before a project moves into sampling or production, several practical details usually need to be clarified.

During exhibition conversations, product development and sourcing discussions may include areas such as:

  • Fabric composition, weight and performance requirements
  • Garment measurements, fit and construction
  • Color options, trims, labels and branding details
  • Private label and customization requirements
  • Sample development and product revisions
  • Order quantities and bulk production planning
  • Quality requirements and inspection expectations

Discussing these points early helps both the buyer and manufacturer understand whether a product concept can be developed into a clear and repeatable production specification.

From Exhibition Conversation to Product Development

A meeting at an exhibition is often only the beginning of a sourcing project. After an initial discussion, buyers may continue by providing a Tech Pack, reference sample, measurement sheet, fabric requirement or product concept for further evaluation.

From there, the manufacturing process can move into material confirmation, sample development, fitting and revisions before the specifications are approved for bulk production.

This connection between early product discussions and actual manufacturing is one of the reasons we continue to value face-to-face communication at international sourcing exhibitions.

Looking Back at Melbourne 2023

Global Sourcing Expo Australia 2023 provided our team with an opportunity to meet buyers and industry visitors directly in Melbourne while presenting physical apparel samples and discussing real sourcing requirements.

For us, the value of an exhibition goes beyond displaying garments. It is also a chance to listen to the market, understand buyer expectations and have more practical conversations about how a product moves from an initial idea to sampling and bulk manufacturing.

We will continue sharing records from past exhibitions as well as information about upcoming international events where buyers can meet our team and discuss apparel projects in person.
