Lightweight Cotton Hoodie — the one you reach for on a mild day
This is a french-terry hoodie, not a fleece brick
Most heavy hoodies are brushed fleece — warm, but they pile up at the hip and feel like a blanket by noon. This one is built from lightweight cotton french terry: a loop-back knit that breathes, drapes, and weighs about 40 g less per piece than a 300 gsm fleece. That difference is why it reads as "casual layer" instead of "winter armor." We run it at 240–300 gsm; pick the lower end for spring drops, the higher for a heavier hand without the bulk.
240 gsm — spring
Lighter loop-back hand that breathes and drapes clean. The mid-season and warmer-climate choice.
280–300 gsm — all-year
A touch more body and warmth, still far from a heavy fleece brick.
The hood is lined, and that matters
An unlined hood is two pieces of shell and a raw inner face that itches and curls. Here the hood is finished with a knit lining that sits flat against the neck and recovers its shape when you pull the drawstring. We check it the same way we check rib: stretch the lining to 1.5× its width, let go, and it should spring back within a couple of millimeters. If it doesn't, the lining weight changes before you see a sample.

The drawstring is more than a string
A 4–5 mm tubular cord runs through a 1.2 cm self-fabric tunnel, so it doesn't twist or poke out at the corners. Ends get metal or plastic aglets (6–8 mm) and are heat-sealed or knotted so they don't fray in the wash. Length is set to sit mid-chest — long enough to cinch the hood, short enough not to flap. It sounds like nothing. It is the detail people notice when every other hoodie they own has a limp, uneven cord.
Dropped shoulder, drawn in, not dumped
The seam sits 4–5 cm below the natural shoulder for that easy, borrowed-comfort line — but on a lightweight body the danger is the opposite of a heavy fleece: too much fabric and it just droops. We hold the drop and taper the side seam so it hangs clean on a hanger and on a body, with about 8–10 cm of body ease. Roomy, deliberate, not a tent.
Kangaroo pocket that keeps its mouth
One-piece front pocket, bar-tacked at both stress points at 8–10 stitches per cm. A plain pocket sags the moment someone drops a phone in it; the bar tacks carry the load and the bound opening holds its shape. In sampling we hang a 200 g weight on the pocket mouth — if it stretches more than a couple of mm, the stitch count goes up before we ship you a sample.
Rib that fits the weight
On a heavier fleece we'd run a 6–7 cm band; on this lighter make a 5–6 cm 2×2 rib is enough to hold the cuff and hem without a thick band riding the waist. Same recovery check — stretch to 1.5×, it springs back. The point is matching the trim to the cloth, not bolting on the widest rib we make.
What you can put on it
This is a blank canvas, not a finished SKU. For wholesale and private-label runs:
- Logo — chest, hood or cuff embroidery, or screen print, placed from your tech pack.
- Color — body, lining and rib can match or contrast; drawcord color set to your palette.
- Size — unisex graded XS–XXL; we take the side seam in if your market runs slim.
- Fabric — 240–300 gsm cotton french terry; send a swatch and we clone the hand.
- Pack — polybag, hangtag and carton to your retail spec.
How a run actually goes
Most buyers start this style as a 1,000-piece test in two or three colors, then reorder the winner. Sampling takes 7–10 days; once you approve, bulk ships in 25–35 days. FOB runs US$1.8–3.7 per piece depending on fabric weight and trim — we quote against your tech pack, not a guess. Metal aglets add about 3 days; everything else sits inside the base window.
One honest fit note
These run true to a relaxed spec. If your customers expect a slimmer dropped-shoulder (common in parts of Europe), tell us before sampling — we take the side seam in, never the shoulder, so the dropped look stays.
